I've done some SEO for my own website and I was told that Google also looks down on directories with wording like 'Featured Listings' on the pages or the words 'SEO Friendly' in the title - basically anything at all that may indicate the directory is there for either SEO benefit or that they're selling links. I don't know how true it is but I certainly wouldn't risk submitting to a directory that has anything like this on!
